Dr. Tim Hughes is currently Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine, University of Adelaide, Deputy-Head of the Division of Haematology in the Institute of Medical and Veterinary Science, Director of Haematology Research in the Hanson Institute and Director of the Stem Cell Transplant Program at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. He is Vice-Chairman of the Australasian Leukaemia and Lymphoma Group (ALLG) and Chairman of the CML study group within ALLG. He was President of the Haematology Society of Australia and New Zealand between 2001 and 2003. He is currently chief investigator for the ALLG Phase II trial of selective intensification of imatinib-based therapy for newly diagnosed CML patients. Dr. Hughes¡¦ major research interests are the biology of chronic myeloid leukemia, the molecular monitoring of response in leukemia, and the mechanisms of drug resistance. |
